Franklin Street Plaza
This large, pedestrian-friendly complex — the only one of its kind in Chapel Hill — will connect Franklin Street boutique shopping and dining along Chapel Hill's historic main street. The Plaza will feature soaring colonnades, interactive sculptures and natural spaces to relax over a gourmet cup of coffee or to enjoy a leisurely lunch. In addition to providing elegant shopping, dining, and art, Franklin Street Plaza will host a wealth of community events and activities, enhancing the already rich flavor and vitality of Franklin Street for the entire neighborhood.
The design of Franklin Street Plaza has been entrusted to world-renowned artist, Mikyoung Kim. Through her work, Kim has transcended the traditional role of landscape architect and has created spatial narratives that encourage public interaction with art and landscape. Kim’s unique style of sculpture and landscaping will not only encourage people to directly engage with her art, but to also engage and connect with each other. Franklin Street Plaza is just one more thing to love about living at 140 West Franklin.
